If you look at popular models of computers, you might think that Windows is the only operating system people use, with the exception of those who prefer Macintosh. A free system, called Linux, can be downloaded and used by anyone, without any charge, and it is liked by a lot of people. Let's take a closer look at Linux and how it compares to Windows in various ways.

Ease of use is the primary benefit that Windows offers over Linux operating systems. This is mostly because Microsoft is now the world's most popular operating system by more than just a little bit. So the vast majority of programs and applications out there are designed to work on Windows operating systems. If you like to play some games, to use one example, it's highly likely that you will need a computer with a Windows based operating system to play them. Even though there are some ways to run Windows based applications on Linux, this requires quite a lot more technological know-how and effort than just running them on a PC that already has Windows installed on it. If you're just a casual computer user who wants to run only the most popular programs, then, you'll be much better off with Windows.

Many people that use computers need to have help; if this is you, Windows is a system that would probably be suited for you. Windows is fully equipped to help you with any question that you may have - just make sure you have a licensed copy or will not help you at all.

Telephone support, as well as e-mail and chat rooms are available to owners of Windows. It is safe to say that Microsoft is one of the global super companies. While it's certainly possible to find help for issues related to Linux, since this isn't a commercial company, you have to rely on support forums for this. Even though both OS systems, Linux and Windows, have some form of support, Windows has the best system overall.

Many people do not know that Linux has a variety of software programs focused on education. A great solution for many students that are struggling in school is to use a variety of programs available through the Linux operating system to help with their education. Since you have to pay for each copy of Windows that is used at a school, many campuses have started using Linux which is free and has greatly improved their overall budget. More and more schools are starting to come on board with Linux because it is free of charge and is offering many more software programs to help with education.

In conclusion, there's no one best operating system for everybody. If you use Windows on your computer, you know about its bad points, so you will be glad to know that Linux has bad points also. The computer that does what you want, might not do what another person wants. If you're someone who likes to learn the inner workings of things, you may prefer Linux. Simple and easy is the way most people want their computer experience, and that would make Windows their best choice.
