The word silk conjures up visions of yards of smooth slithering material in rainbow colors and varied designs taking the form of gorgeous haute couture gowns and dresses. History Of Ties
The Chinese emperor Shih Huang Ti is credited with using the first silk tie. The story goes that Parisians inspired by the neckerchiefs worn by the mercenaries from Croatia started to wear pieces of silk cloth around their neck. As its use became more fashionable, variations of the silk cloth in the form of cravats, stocks, and scarves began to appear in the fashion world. The necktie in its current form made its appearance during the Industrial revolution when there was a need to have a neck piece which would be practical and stylish.
Uses Of Ties
Ties are of different kinds to serve different purposes. They could be worn as a fashion statement to say that you have arrived in which case you would have the best of designer silk ties. The pattern on the silk tie worn by you would reflect your personality. Thus a vivacious extrovert would probably be seen in colorful ties in bold designs whereas a more conservative person would wear lighter shades and quieter patterns. The occasion for which you wear your necktie would also determine your choice of ties. Here again neckties worn with corporate clothing and club ties would be different to the one you wear for more personal occasions.
Types Of Ties
The mens tie as it is seen today is the most popular. However other variations like the bow tie worn with a tuxedo usually for very formal functions, the clip on tie, the four-in-hand tie, the six-fold tie, and the bolo tie made popular in Westerns are the variations that can be found. The type of knot you use to tie your necktie could also distinguish it from others. The half Windsor knot, the Windsor knot, the four-in-hand knot which is the most popular, and the Pratt/Shelby knot are commonly used. There are plenty of necktie accessories like tie tack, tie chain, tie bar, and tie clip being brought out to help you wear that tie more perfectly.
