While there are some factors affecting lung cancer that we cannot avoid or beyond our control, we can still do something to prevent this number one cause of death in the US. Most countries are now working to control the environmental factors that could affect lung cancer like air pollution and other chemical substances such as asbestos, chromium, arsenic and nickel.
The prevention of lung cancer starts with a healthy diet. Studies show that a healthy diet could not only prevent lung cancer but other deadly diseases as well. Healthy diet should include fresh fruits, vegetables, and foods low in fat, preservatives and red meat are found to be effective in lowering the risk of lung cancer. There is also a need for you to abstain from drinking alcohol, but if that is hard thing to do then at least drink alcohol in moderation.
People with active in physical activities also reduce the risk of acquiring lung cancer even if you are smoking cigarettes. So it would help a lot if you do daily exercise. It would also help if you would take some precautionary measures by taking vitamins and food supplements that combat or prevent lung cancer.
